Hello,

I have noticed that when I play DVDs and display them on my 52" TV,

through my ATI 7500, the movie display is about 1 inch shorter than

when I play the same DVD through my SONY S-530D DVD player.

Anyone know why the displays sizes are different?

BTW, both displays are letterboxed.

I cannot believe that there isn't a single person in this forum who

has a clue on what causes this problem.

BTW, I am using the S-Video output from the radeon 7500 to

connect the pc to the TV.

And the picture is actually 2 inches shorter, not 1 inch as I said

originally.

Thanks.

Probably an overscan issue.... I am not very familiar on using S-Vid out but I think there is something called TVTool (google it) that worked on overscan / zoom and position but not positive...

dang it, according to the TVTool's FAQ on the H.O.T website, that software

does not support ATI cards. oh well...

Any other ideas, anyone?

Thanks.

Are the two going into your set via different inputs or at different rates on the same input (i.e. 480i vs. 480p)? If so, then its probably just a calibration issue. Each input or signal format on a paritcular input will often have their own calibration settings, which include things like overscan, h/v positioning, etc...

Dean, the TV set is not an HDTV. It is a regular

Sony rear projection tv. The DVD player goes into

the TV using the component (3 cable) video input,

and the PC goes into it using S-Video.

Thanks.
