Hi...

So apparently PC Games lack a Dolby digital track...or a proper 5.1 mix. Why? How come they include it with limited disks on the 360 but not with the PC games so it requires sound-cards to get Dolby Digital 5.1? I know analog 5.1 can be done...but BioShock Infinite on PC is only stereo...not even Analogue 5.1....

Do the xbox's come with a built in encoder chip with DD or do the games just support it on the disk and the 360 just passes it through?

Thank you,

HDMI

I can't speak to Bioshock Infinite specifically but most PC games will output 5.1 or 7.1 LPCM via HDMI. If I recall correctly even the original Bioshock was 7.1 on PC so it seems unusual that Infinite wouldn't be.

Compressing LPCM to Dolby to output via optical seems pointless when the uncompressed LPCM can be passed over HDMI. If you need the Dolby stream there are sound cards that can compress LPCM to Dolby in real time.
