Why do we perpetuate the myth?

Its like dress sizes in reverse, or maybe like purchasing "Magnums."

The lenses on my 8110 measure about 6-7" across, the phosphor face less. So why do we call it an " 8 inch projector?" Why can't we just change the way we reference the projectors to call them what they are? 5.5 or 6" projectors?

Same thing with an 8' d***
Just like the lottery here in California, the last pot was for 13 million. There were two winners, that comes out to 6.5 million each, WRONG they get a cash payout of 2.5 million.

Deron.
Dok,

For a second there I thought the potty-mouth filter actually catches the "d" word.

I suppose there are other contexts for it...

Main Entry: dick

Pronunciation: 'dik

Function: noun

Etymology: Dick, nickname for Richard

1 chiefly British : FELLOW, CHAP

2 usually vulgar : *****

3 [by shortening & alteration] : DETECTIVE

$2.5 million will buy you a big d***.
If you had $2.5 million you wouldn't need a big D***
Not all things are exaggerated. One serving size of many food items is far less than most of us would consume. Calories 100 - Serving size: 2 chips...

Sure...

Whatever sounds best to the marketing folks I guess.

A 28 year old kid here in Ontario just won $20million in the Super 7.

His cheque was for T W E N T Y M I L L I O N D O L L A R S !!!!!

Canada doesn't tax lottery winnings.
But yeah, I kind of agree, its silly to use size as a differentiating factor when virtually all of the projectors called 7" and 8" use pretty much the same amount of phosphor to make an image.

In fact some 7" machines(like the Sony D50) even have a slightly larger area of used phosphor than some 8" machines, like then NEC XG.

I don't know about Norway, but he lived in Belleville, 75km from me. Lucky *******.
20 Mill USD actually equals 15.4 million USD. Thats still not too bad in my eyes. Maybe I should start buying lotto tickets...
$20 million Cdn = $168.7 million Mxn :D

Are you measuring the lenses or the faces of the CRT's? The face of the CRT should be measured diagonally (but it still won't be 8")?

Mark.
The size of the lenses is ALMOST immaterial. The diameter of the lenses is not closely related to the size of the CRT face or the picture.

A 200 inch telescope focuses to an eyepiece that measures two inches across at the barrel. That doesn't make it a 2 inch telescope.

And when was the last time I wives reported their age and or weight accurately?
