You know how if you get a screen slightly dampened wet, it looks like a dull smudge/crystal like? I just pulled this new Samsung PN50B650 out of the box an fired it up and it kind of looks like that. Also, the menu screen doesn't look as vivid as the 560 that I took back for this one - like the text doesn't look as sharp.

Maybe it just got done with an intense workout? Wipe it down and put a cooling fan on it and it should dry up in no time! Sometimes when my Kuro and I go jogging, it sweats like a pig!

Alright cool, now even MORE problems. Aside from the not as sharp menu screen - now there's problems watching TV. When it's in it's HDMI input, the colors are normal and bright [but totally un-watchable on non-HD channels], when I flip to the 'TV' input, my screen fills nicely and the picture looks a little clearer on a non-HD channel, but the color changes dramatically and the audio drops dramatically as well.

In these pictures it's not a well representation of the color change, but the channel menu blue gets a way darker hue when the input is flipped to TV.

EDIT: Nvm the pictures are a good representation of the picture difference with the input switches.

Just do yourself a favor and ditch the Samsung. Go buy a Panasonic or Kuro and ENJOY your TV.

I was enjoying the 560 when I decided to put it to real use knowing that it was getting sent back, colors were perfect - but there was a few dead pixels and the image retention was higher than normal so it was gonna be replaced, now that it's sent back and I decided to go to Best Buy and buy the 650 thinking it would be an upgrade from the 560, it's looking like a huge down grade. I didn't have any of these problems with the 560, switching from TV/HDMI didn't change the colors and it didn't change the audio levels.

Dizzy you have to turn all your settings down and run the set for 36+hrs at a time. break the tv in with low settings screen filled for 100+ hrs.....

then judge the picture!!!!!

all three of my plasmas got better and better over time.

looks like a good, very positive review. the 50hz processing glitch doesn't affect us here in the states as everything here is 60hz or 24hz. so rock on!

Excellent! Glad to hear that the major flaw in the review is a non-issue for us here in the states. Although i wish he had detailed the IR a bit more. He listed it as a Con, but I wonder if any break in was done on the set/how long it had been running before they tested it.

Also, im suprised more reviews dont comment on either buzzing or the pink whites.

There is one universal theme with Samsungs, and you hear it from owners all the time, "if it wasn't for the (insert problem here)..it would be a great tv"..it's always the "if" situation..as others have said...get yourself a Pioneer or Panasonic and you won't have to put up this crap...

I know I gotta break it in first, I just wanted to hook up my cable box real quick to see if the text was clear on the guide menu or if it was bad like the actual TV menu. And when I switched from HDMI 1 input to TV input the colors changed dramatically, and my audio volume dropped dramatically so I have no clue what could of possibly caused that?? I'm currently running the break in slides in Dynamic Mode, if that's wrong someone tell me [Everyone seems to be telling me different things, "run it in dynamic mode, it speeds up the break-in process an lets the phosphors burn hotter/put the contrast/brightness/cell light down and put it in a subtle movie mode" - it's only been just over 12 hours now.

you do know that you have to change the settings on every input, right? so changing from one input to another will change everything. each input has to be calibrated how you like it.

On my 560 switching inputs all looked good exactly how they were out of the box. I'll look in the settings, but what would explain the huge volume drop?

all inputs will come from the factory with the same factory settings. if you changed the setting on one input then the others will all still be on the factory settings. the volume drop could be a result of the cable box amplifying the signal maybe? idk. i wouldn't worry about it.

start watching the tv and stop worrying about everything.
