Hi,

I have a da-lite model b (80x45) screen. When I play dvds (patriot, crouching tiger) and position the projector so that it uses the full width of the screen, I get black bars on top and bottom of the screen (IOW, the entire height of the screen is not used). Here is my setup:

HTPC w/ Radeon AIW

(desktop 1024x768, true color, 70hz refresh)

ATI player 7.1 (set for widescreen)

LT150 (native mode or resolution)

any help would be appreciated.

With regards to dvd, anamorphic doesnt refer to any particular aspect ratio (can be 1:78, 1.85, 2.20, 2.35 etc.), but is the way the frames are stored on the disk.

With regard to physical films, anamorphic generally refers to 2.35 (and a few other) aspect ratio films.

Very few, if any, films are shot in 1.78 (16:9). Most are either 1.85 or 2.35 and with either of these formats you will have black bars unless you overscan the 1.85 movies. Overscanning is what I chose to do on 1.85. HDTV is of course 16:9
