Neither are the next 19 games in the top 20 most anticipated Xbox games.

If you get an HD game be thankful. If you actually feel like playing the title for any reason other than it being in HD be really thankful.

This is why a good number of us here are chomping at the bit for the next generation of consoles or going the home theater PC route. We want to play HD games on our HD displays and even the most powerful current console can only occasionally manage a mediocre title.

So you're of the opinion that besides those couple you named the vast majority of the games on this list are good (meaning that they are significantly better than the average Xbox game released - not like in magazine reviews where mediocre = horrible and still gets a 7.6)? http://www.hdtvpub.com/productdb/gam...p=yes&r480p=no

I don't know about you, but I don't see the overwhelming majority of big name games and must haves on that list. There's not anything on there that I'm even curious to actually play (not just mess around with for kicks) besides Amped 2 and certainly nothing I'd pay for (I don't count Soul Calibur 2 as a true HD game since they had to crop the sides to make it playable at 720p). I see a lot of mediocre games that most people don't bother to play and a lot of games that support HD and still don't yield impressive results.

I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade but HD releases are few and far between. Most of those titles just aren't impressive. I wish it were different but 720p/1080i on the Xbox has been quite a let down for this forum with so many good games pulling HD at the last minute for a period and the, what I term, mediocre quality of the games that do support it (meaning hardly any really big releases or must have games). I don't mind 480p with 16:9 (there is no excuse not to provide this at least) but what I and a lot of others want in this forum is a console that really utilizes our home theater video and audio systems. Xbox covers the audio okay and some games are great in that department but for HD video - it simply does not measure up by any standard. My opinion anyway.

Yeah, this generation is getting the graphical squeeze as it is. Adding 720P isn't just flipping a switch.

X-Men Legends is a pretty good 720p game though!

Exactly, 480p 16:9 is pretty impressive given the hardware.

I would much rather play Halo 2 smooth at 480p than stutter slow at 720p or 1080i.

I hope you are right. I read a report saying it looked like 4:3 stretched from someone running the hacked French version. Of course you can't believe everything you read on Internet Forums.

I borrowed Star Wars Battlefront from a friend and was impressed that it was 16:9.

Simple, given a choice between more polygons, characters, explosions, AI, control, etc. and a higher resolution, the higher resolution will almost always lose. :)

Yeah, I prefer standard English definitions to game company reviews. When they say mediocre, they mean total garbage. When it is used in standard English it means average, standard, middle of the road, commonplace and such. I also love how they rate games at an average on a 10 point scale in the 8 range. I mean, what good are 1-6 if they never see use. You might as well just take 7-10 and make it 1-4 with the average being a 2 (in the middle). I don't know what their reference 5 is on their 1-10 scale but it would have to be something like Legend of Kage on the NES.:D

It will support 16x9 with Co-Op mode. Check out teamxbox.com and even halo2.com (after the intro, the MS page has more info and links).

Hopefully, the rumors of a dual-core G5 with ATI x800 (or x600) Radeon engine of the next generation will be welcome boost if remotely true.

BTW, anyone use an LCD HDTV with their Xbox? I am interested in the Syntax Olevia for my lan parties and folks in the other forum don't respond about it with Xbox games. But for less than $1601 w/free shipping...ya can't beat it! Right?
