Ok folks, this is not a bona fide HTPC question... read on.

I have an IBM Thinkpad i Series laptop, with the standard VGA out. Yesterday, to satisfy my urge, i set the resolution to 640x480, 60 Hz, and connected it to my 1030Q1 (32 kHz) with a 15-25 pin cable i got with the PJ (i think it was meant for iScan). First impressions - the desktop looks kinda dull, and the image is smaller. I knew it was probably going to be smaller, but when i fired up media player and played some mpeg's, (Spiderman trailer), the screen was really dark. I could just about make out the brighter scenes in the clip.

Any ideas what this is??? It outputs a much brighter and bigger image with the composite input. Is it the composite sync issue?? :(

Is it only the media player stuff that is really dark?

If so, try to increase the brightness in the media player's settings.

With my WinDVD, I have to crankup the brightness setting to make it look the same as the desktop.
