It seems backwards to me that the XBR8 120Hz model being more than DOUBLE the price. I wont discuss prices but Im looking at 52" SONY LCD's and only comparing the XBR8 and XBR9. I have a 52" XBR4 and love it but its new home is the bedroom. For the living room I'd like the latest and greatest. Thanks.

The XBR8 is 55" and is RGB Local Dimming (TriLuminos) LED. That's Sony's flagship [LED] LCD model (right now).

OK, so when I bought my XBR4 it was the 120Hz that was all the hype. Motion blur was supposed to be eliminated however watching Football still has the blur on some quick action plays. Picture clarity on the XBR4 is acceptable to me but blur is my issue.

Which set will better handle motion blur?

well both the XBR9 and XBR8 shows full 1080lines of motion resolution compared to around 600lines for the 120hz XBR4.

the XBR8 does this with just 120hz, since it has a motionflow PRO it introduces 'Backlight Blinking' to achieve the same effect as the 240hz motionflow found in XBR9 i.e in terms of motion resolution.so the XBR8 has lesser input lag compared to to XBR9.

I replaced my XBR2 with a Samsung plasma, it is the set I watch football on. The rest of the sets in the house are LCD. And I have one of the new LED/LCD 120hz sets, it is only 40", but I would still not want to watch football on it, 120hz or not. The plasma is just easier on the eyes with a more realistic picture without the eye fatigue.

Just my .02 as a football fan.
