I'm talking about the screens that use various optical/material properties to make PJ screens that can be used in direct sunlight and still no wash out...


A year ago, these seemed like a total slam dunk in terms of technical greatness... I've been away for a awhile but would have thougth 1/2 the threads on the boards would have been about these types of screens (Sony and other mfgs)...


What gives?

My speculation is that SONY who I think was first talking about it realized that there would be no more TV market with something like that. And since it is a material or a process it could be duplicated and copied without them making their MAJOR coin off of it so...they let it die on the vine...JMO

But... There is at least 1 company out of CA that claimed to have a better solution than Sony... Can't remember their name though...

Simple - they're just too expensive, more than double what most people spend on a pj.


They're probably selling fine, but not so much to the type of people frequenting online forums.
