Why is Yankee/Redsox game not in HD on D*!!!

2720 Views 75 Replies 29 Participants Last post by  pcusick3
This is really getting me aggravated. Every Yankee home game is supposed to be on YES HD. Most of the time the game isn't listed until 5 minutes before game time and it is on channel 95. Now for tonights game against the Red Sox, it isn't on ANY channel! What the @#$% are they doing at D*. I'm thinking about switching to the DISH.

I am fairly irritated by this. The game is, in fact, being broadcast in HD on ESPN. But, since I live in the Yankee's home television territory, I must watch it on YES...and D* is not carrying the YES HD feed for the game tonight. So I am stuck with SD even when the HD feed is being broadcast on ESPN. I am so glad I pay $10 for the HD package, $180 a year for the MLB EI package, etc...
i know its retarded but the dish wont fix that.......

its a local rights thing...espn doesnt have the exclusive rights to anything other than sunday night baseball so they get blacked out.

feel lucky im in delaware so i suffer this for nats, phillies and orioles games.......and i dont even get a local phillies channel.!
While I feel your pain, it's about time this happened to Yanks/Sox fans.! :D

Us other fans go through it all the time!
This is B.S. It is absurd that people in Kansas can watch the Yanks in H.D. but I can't! People in NYC want to see the Yanks in HD but we can't because of some reduculous rules. HD is such a reduculous scam. I wish they would get it together. Nobody knows whats going on. No one knows what's going to be available. It's so silly. I feel like an ass for dishing out he extra cash for the HD package. It's not worth it. Not by a long shot. I'm getting outta D* ASAP if things don't change drastically in the near future.

What is absurd is that, each and every time one of the YES games doesn't get on DirecTV, another thread pops up here full of angry posts from self-important Yankee fans who think the world revolves around them.

It is an issue when D* says that they are carrying YES-HD, but then they selectively choose which games to show. Has nothing to do with Yankee fans thinking that the world revolves around them...

Could you point me to something that says that YESHD was launched as a full time service on D*?

The world does revolve around us ;)
Comcast had the game in HD and I live in the NY market. They put YES on the INHD2 channel.

If the thread and/or the post doesn't interest you, why read it? And further more why comment? This place is a public forum and as long as the thread and post is within rules of the boards, all discussions are WELCOME.

I see lots of posts about lots of topics I am either not interested in or don't agree with. I find absolutely no pleasure in posting to let people feel that their interests or opinions aren't worth a discussion - why do you?

The reason YES HD was not on DirecTV last evening had NOTHING to do with any MLB rules. It had to do with only one thing - BANDWIDTH. If you noticed, there was the Pittsburgh-Arizona game on channel 95 at 7pm. D* can't put two on at the same time unless they reduce other programming to free up bandwidth.

YES HD was on Cablevision last night and will also be on Cablevision tonight. However frustrating that is (I am in this group BTW), D* has made no comittments to provide any specific amount of HD MLB games either thru the MLB Extra Innings Package OR from our RSN's.

By next season, this issue will be past, provided there is no delay in the launch of D10.

I am mariners fan actually, but, enjoy yankees and sox, live in upstate NY, so I didnt get the game in hd as well. As a baseball fan I look forward to yanks and sox. The good news? We got to see the Pirates! What a joke by D*. (again)

Joe

On a positive note, there were 2 games on last night, with the dodgers in hd at 10.

I totally agree, damn skanks.
Yankees fans need to pipe down. :D Met fans have yet to see any SNY-HD games, despite the press releases saying there would be 'select' games.
I was in Stadium last night (05/10). Awesome game.

I know this game in HD was on INHD2 by Comcast.

So - start a thread about the Mets - call DirecTV ask why, etc. This thread is not the I hate the Yanks whineathon.

Last I checked we are free to post about anything that didn't break the rules. Nobody asked you to click on this thread but you chose to read it and post here. Sorry if your team isn't worth watching in HD or SD for that matter. I don't think being a Yankee fan or wanting to watch the game in HD says anything about my sense of self importance.
