Why no CBS football at 1:00PM in Boston

OK, I thought I understood the rules. When the Patriots are on, the other network (FOX in this case) can't show football on the Boston affiliate. The Patriots aren't on untill 4PM today. So I would expect both CSB and FOX to televise a 1PM game. But nooo, Shazam on CBS. Why????

It's not CBS' week for a doubleheader. All CBS affiliates can either show an early game or a late game, this week, but not both. Since the Patriots are the late game, you won't get an early game on CBS. However, if it were a CBS doubleheader week, you WOULD get two games on the CBS affiliate.

IIRC - and feel free to correct me - The Home Game Rule knocks one game off of the non-home-game network (FOX, in your case) if it's that network's turn for doubleheader rights. Also, IIRC, that same rule applies even if the home game isn't televised because it's not sold out. Unless the second full moon of the month falls on a Wednesday. Then, all bets are off.
Thanks, not the answer I was hoping for, but sounds reasonable. So much for doing my part to furthur the HD movement. A friend is coming to watch the Vikings, guess we will have to watch on standard Sunday Ticket. Boo. No I don't have HD directv.
They always like to give the network that doesn't have the home team "advantage" the opportunity to air a game unopposed when possible.
