I have a JVC 27 inch flatscreen. I've noticed that the screen does not have the usual static cling. Every TV I ever used had it, but this is my first 27 inch flatscreen. Is this common with all large tubes or is it more to due with the flatscreen? It's definitely a plus, have to clean it less often.

I noticed the same thing with my 32" Panny flat-screen TV. With my old curved-screen 27" Trinitron i had to clean it every week or so, but with the new flat Panny it's every month and the cloth is still cleaner than with the old Sony every week.

I've looked closely at the Panny and while it has a flat glass on the outside, it looks like there's a slightly curved tube inside behind the flat outer glass. If this is indeed two layers, then the tube is inside probably has the static charge and the outer glass isn't quite as affected by what's going on inside.
