Just wondering, but it seems that all the budget DLP projectors (under $2500, even under $5K for that matter), are all 4:3 projectors. Is this driven by TI, since they make the chips, or is there another reason. I would think that a 16:9 non-HD DLP would have a great market.

I think the marketing guru's have a lot to do with that.

TI had a first gen chip 848x600 DLP chip which was used in a few HT projectors - but it hasn't made the transition to the HD2 product line. The focus appears to be on the higher resolution (and more expensive) 1280x720 DMD.

I'd love to see a press release announcing a low cost, 848x480 HD2 chip teamed with some of the features we're seeing (top notch scaling, 5x color wheels), but I'm not holding my breath.

Thanks,

Kevin
