just wondering...I am looking at making a nice addition to my systems LFE channel, and I KNOW 100% the EP-2500 is WAY too much power for what I am looking to do, but have seen many others use it when it does not seem needed as well...

Why not a cheaper QSC or Crown amp? what does the EP-2500 offer besides amazingly high rated output on the cheap?

not trying to bring it down, just dont quite understand, as I used to run a large pro JBL array, and those things were being run off much smaller amps, and they pulled a LOT more power than I am looking at using...

TYIA for all help! ;-)

the cliffnotes version is that for the price it does about 95% of what anyone would ever need in a subwoofer amp. Its cheap and reliable and plays nice with most consumer AVR's.

I have a crown xti2000....and if i had it to do over i would buy the ep2500

I bought a Mackie pro amp, the FR 800 for about $250. Seems a rack of 4 of those would be quite affordable. I saw no reason to dislike it except for maybe a bit of fan noise.

I would think 200 watts into 8 ohms would suffice for most home theaters.
