I thought warn 2 always brought yellowish color to bright/white colors. So I never liked it.

But I always see people using it - my guess is that it's the best color setting for more accurate colors and the grayscale.

I think Standard is good for me.

Warm2 will get you closest to the D65 standard. When you say you think it's too yellow, you're probably just wanting a little more blue. Nothing wrong with that; it's what most people prefer. It's just not correct.

A bit of trivia: The D65 standard is actually based on midday sunlight. In Europe. So maybe by preferring a cooler color, you're just showing your pride in the Red, White and Blue.

Check out the Wiki entry:

Warm2 is great for movies since it's the "accurate color". I believe many of us are used to the "paper white" on monitors (aka 9300K) when we see 6500K/D65 we think it's wrong.

But for sports and general TV I like warm 1 (~7500K I guess?!) which is a good compromise.

Ah, it just depends on if you want an accurate image. People are used to the very inaccurate images of CRTs that for decades have been too blue, so that is what they seem to be drawn to. In truth it takes a week or so of watching an accurate image to get used to it. From that point on most people will look at the average set and find it looks pretty off color and lacks a lot of detail.

I want an an image that is as close to neutral as I can get. Just like some people like to crank up the bass on a good stereo to make them feel like they got their money's worth, some people like to crank up the color and the blue end of the spectrum to make them feel they are getting what they paid for. Neither is close to realistic but that's their choice.

Personally I prefer the calibrated settings of Warm1 being D65k standard than using Warm2 and making it be D65k standard. Just cause its closest to D65k from out of the box doesn't mean its best left calibrating using Warm2.

I believe Bill Mitchell said that calibrating using Warm1 to be D65k got better results than using Warm2 and calibrating it to be D65k standard.

By calibrating to warm1, do you mean adjusting the white balance? I did my "calibration" with the DVE disc, and I did it all in warm1, but I ended up leaving the white balance settings all at 25. I don't have any measuring equipment (besides my eyes, lol) and I've heard that trying to set white balance by eye is very difficult.
