I for one am not happy with NBC and fox stations. The digital picture does not seem to be as good as it was a few months ago and I personally would llike to watch the programming and especially like to watch Nascar racing in HD.

Last time I called the station they said they had no intention of broadcasting in HD wide screen, I know fox broadcasting is pushing all its stations to broadcast in HD 720, if they do not want to do this they should give us a waiver so we can pick up out of area stations. Also Dish network is cutting off out of state network even if you have had it for several years.

Bill
I too have noticed the upconverted signals from KFDX and KJTL to be of poor quality. It seems the fields get out of order during fast motion.

Anybody know the engineer there?

-Kevin
I'm very disappointed in KFDX and KJTL's decision to not go HD. The digital signal that they are sending is jittery and unwatchable.

HDNET TO BROADCAST GAMES 2-5 OF FIRST ROUND IN PLAYOFFS

For Immediate Release- April 23, 2005

DALLAS - The Dallas Mavericks and HDNet announced today that fans will

be able to watch Games 2 through 5 of the Mavs vs. Rockets Round 1

Playoff Series in high-definition on HDNet in Texas.

"There's nothing more exciting than playoff time, especially when you

have a match-up featuring two Texas teams," said Mavs owner Mark Cuban.

"HDNet and the Mavs want to give viewers at home an experience that is

almost as good as being there."

Co-founded by Cuban and General Manager Philip Garvin, HDNet provides

viewers with exciting and topical news, sports, music and entertainment

programming. The network features up to 20 hours of original

programming each week, all produced in the highest quality 1080i HDTV

format - more original high-definition programming than any other

network.

HDNet news and entertainment includes original series "HDNet World

Report," "Face 2 Face with Roy Firestone," "Art Mann Presents," "HDNet

Concert Series," and "True Music," as well as every episode of the

acclaimed Warner Bros. series "Smallville." Live sports productions

include NASCAR auto racing, National Hockey League and Major League

Soccer games.

HDNet Movies, the company's second network, shows a wide selection of

major studios' theatrical releases - all uncut, unedited, and appearing

in their original aspect ratio. The network also features movies

produced and finished in true 1080i high-definition, including movies

premiering day and date with their theatrical releases.

Fans can contact their cable or satellite providers or visit www.hd.net

for more information. Comcast does not currently carry HDNet and HDNet

Movies, so Mavs Playoff games in HD are not available to Comcast

customers. Comcast customers are asked to call their local office and

let them know they want HDNet and the Mavs in HD.

I consider this very good news as I can get a pretty good signal in the winter and a weak signal now. I am in Hollis, Ok, out of the normal broadcast area.

I emailed the engineering dept. at KSWO and asked about their power on digital, this is the response:

We are still on low power. . . . . Transmitting apx 13kw effective radiated power. We will increase our digital power to apx 138kw ERP in the near future. Thanks for your interest. Please call with questions

I notice this week that KFDX has finally fixed thier sound, now you can tell their stereo digital sound is more dynamic and my surround sound speakers work in the back for the first time, also on the new news set it looks like they have 16X9 monitors now in the studio, maybe they WILL go to HDTV it would be nice.

So now in Wichita Falls we have channel 3 digital, channel 6 HDTV, channel 7 HDTV channel 18 digital, and 35 going to digital in January we also have a new channel 48. I still have a hum in my speakers on channel 3 and I live in Iowa Park and I know several others who are having the same problem, weather you have an off air antennae or getting your signal from Dish network the hum is there.

Bill
Can anyone recommend a good OTA antenna? I have a 57" Sony with an intergrated digital tuner, and I can only receive KAUZ in HD right now. My dad (a former VOOM customer) receives all locals with excellent picture quality, but only KSWO and KAUZ actually broadcast in HD. He claims that KFDX broadcasts some programming in HD, but if so the quality isn't anything near what he receives on KSWO and KAUZ. Thanks!
Am I the only person that is having problems with Channel 18 Digital, it seems to be off the air, it has signal but no picture. Also if you would like to pick up the Dallas TV stations in the evenings and early morning, purchase a Channel Master 4248 antennae, it's UHF only, I can receive NBC and CBS in high definition almost every day of the week, you can also pick up CBS in Sherman, Tx. All the above stations broadcast in High definition.

Bill
Wow, that's amazing, Bill. Have you ever gotten Fox 4 from Dallas? (Not sure of the digital channel number.) I'd love to be able to watch the Cowboys games in real high-def instead of the inferior product Fox 18 is putting out.

BTW... Does anyone know what this channel 48 is? I just got a new TV and when I autoscanned, it picked up this 48. I've never seen it before and didn't even know it existed. The only thing I could find was that maybe it was a translator of a Channel 52 out of Oklahoma City...
Hey fellas, my brother just moved to Lawton and finally purchased a HDTV. I've ordered him a Winegard preamp and Channel Master rotator (going on a 20 foot mast in his backyard), and he'll probably go with the RS VU-190 XR, since he can get it locally.

Anyway, exactly what stations are broadcasting in HD? He's 34 miles from the towers in Witchita Falls and 84 miles from Oklahoma City (yeah, that's going to be a stretch, though I've pulled in a VHF station from 92 miles at my location perfectly).

Any help would be appreciated.

So KJTL-DT is indeed broadcasting in HD, or just digitally? I've read various posts about this, some say HD, some say SD stretch (don't know how they could get those confused).

Anyway, he didn't go with the Radioshack antenna, I ordered him a Channel Master CM3671, so I doubt he'll have any problems.

As far as I can tell only KSWO and KAUZ are HD

I e-mailed the other 2 about some HD info , but never got a reply
I live on a military post. Already have a Dish 1000 installed for my DP622. Dish doesn't broadcast HD locals. Can't put an antenna in the attic. Tried the indoor antennaes and nothing worked. Any recommendations for something that can hook up to the Satellite Dish w/o creating an antenna farm in the backyard so I can pull down the HD locals?
A "Square Shooter" will install to a Dish mount. Other people have had pretty good luck with them.
