There seems to be a bit of confusion over a statement made on the ProjectorCentral site review of the Sanyo 21N. Evan Powell made the observation that the widescreen mode only works with a 480p component input. I now have a 21N and I am able to run widescreen mode with a 480i input from my Toshiba DVD component outputs. Where I think there may be some truth in PC's observation, I think the real story is that the 21n's widescreen mode only works in the video mode. When using progressive component video it then only works in the 480P mode.

So 480P is the only progressive component signal that the widescreen scaler can deal with. This is why I have finally decided to relieve the 21n's scaler of its duties and go with an outboard (Quadscan).

I think that if the Iscan pro is used it would have to be fed into the Component in via RCA jacks from the VGA connection to use widescreen mode with the 21N.
