Wierd VGA problem with Mits 52525

I hook my laptop up to the screen just testing and everything goes fine. Its an ATI 9000 mobile. But I'd need powerstrip to get any usable widescreen resolutions, so I try my main system with a 6800 Ultra (dual DVI with dvi-vga adaptor). This is where the problem comes in. I try it as a second monitor with the 61.77 and one of the 66 series of drivers, but no matter what I do, nothing works. It won't show up in windows. It shows some of the screen before getting into windows but once windows starts, nothing but blue screen.

I'm using a dvi-vga dongle so that may be the problem, but I don't know.

I've seen problems with DVI-HDMI for this TV on this board, and I think that the VGA route is better. Unfortunately it isn't working with one of the latest cards, and the latest drivers.

Any ideas, help? been to HTPC for a quick browse and didn't see anything useful.
