Does anyone know how often (if ever) Wii Fit receives downloadable updates? Actually, I'm a new Wii owner (and long-time PS3 owner), and I don't know if Nintendo updates games/firmware at all.

Also, Since the Wii has SD slots, does anyone think it would ever be possible to fill an SD card with MP3s and play them while working out?

For MP3s, only if the game specifically supports it. The only one off the top of my head that ever did it though is the launch title Excite Truck.

As for updates, no. The Wii does not ever update games on the client side. Internet on the Wii is very much about buying items off of the Shop Channel, and using the other internet related channels such as Weather and Everyone Votes. The idea for the Wii is to get the user to turn it one every day for the rich content (ie. check the news and weather in the morning), regardless of the user's desire to play a game.

You brought up a very good idea. To my knowledge, Wii Fit does not support this feature. It would be a very good idea though. I wonder why Nintendo passed this up!

Endless Ocean is another game that allows you to play your own MP3 soundtrack off SD card.

Mario Kart has a feature that allows Nintendo to "release" a new tournament every week or two. This probably isn't an update to the MK code but more like a temporary add-on maybe. Anyway that's the nearest thing I've seen to an online update.

When GHIII was patched they distributed a new disc -- no online update.
