So I just borrowed my friends Wii while he's travelling, and I didn't get the instructions, I have a simple question. Does the sensor bar have to go just bellow or on top of the screen? I'm planning on using it with my PJ, and don't have a long enough cable. If I put the sensor bar on the side of the room ( like screens at 12 o'clock, and sensor bar is at 3 o'clock) would that work? or will it mess up the thing ? What about putting the sensor bar at the rear of the room (6 o'clock position) ?

The sensor bar needs to be directly above or below the screen. There are 3rd party sensor bars that don't get their power from the Wii. These bars don't have to be connected directly to the Wii, which makes them good for use with front projection systems. There are also some homebrew sensors for the Wii controllers, but I'm not very familiar with them.

I don't think he plans to buy a sensor bar for his friends wii....

Anyways... to answer your question. There is a setting in the Wii menu for the sensor bar which allows you to set it to above or below your screen. Just make sure this setting matches how you have it configured. I have a projector setup too..... just position the sensor bar on a table or something in front of the screen.... mine sits on a table 4 feet away from the screen and it works fine. Just mess with it until you find the perfect spot.

thanks for the input, I'll have to buy something to make this work? maybe an extension for the AV cables? I wonder what the picture quality will be with an extra 20' on the composite cable and a 106" screen ?? (haha) Those wireless sensor bars aren't that much ? just over ten bux shipped via E-bay, I'll check the local game store this afternoon, but my suspicion is that they will be expensive there.

Best to take a look at the extending the sensor bar thread to make it work with a PJ. It is also a little over $10 from nintendo store and I highly recommending using the OEM over 3rd party's.

The Nyko wireless sensor bar is $19.99 and has much stabler response at long range than the stock sensor bar. Probably not in stock at EBgames B&M but they have it at the website.

more question about the sensor bar.

When playing with one controller only, I have no problem whatsoever. However when I tried boxing with the nunchuck, it doesn't seem to be responsive enough. Is this normal?

That's just because the boxing game isn't quite as responsive as it should be.
It has nothing to do with the sensor bar -- actually, none of the games in Wii Sports use the sensor bar, all the motion is calculated via the accelerometers in the remote and nunchuck. The remote tends to work pretty well, but unfortunately, the nunchuck can be a bit finicky in that regard. Try being the left player in "Bungie Buddies" on Wario Ware for a real exercise in frustration.

OIC. Thank you very much for the explanation. I was worried that there's something wrong with my sensor bar or nunchuk. Being musically trained (including several forms of drumming) my rhythm is extremely tight and seeing the delay, punching 3 times when I punched 5 times consecutively, etc. bothered me.

As long as I know that that's normal then I'm fine with it.

Now time to find an easy way to connect to the internet.

I hope it's easier for you than it was for me. It took me a good 4 hours of trial and error to get my Wii connected to the internet through my D-Link wireless router. I ended up having to turn off the router's "turbo" mode and set it to either channel 1 or 11 and change the security settings and give the Wii a static IP address and a bunch of junk like that.

But now it works and I've got the Wii, 3 PC's, an Xbox, and an Xbox360 on my network.

funny enough, it's very easy to connect to the internet. I just chose the wireless internet, it found my network right away, entered the WEP password, voila! Updated Wii and created Mii right away. Setting the wired internet connection for my HD DVD is a lot more gruelling!
