Will 1 Omnimont TRIA Wall Mount Bracket be OK for 2 shelves?

I have an Omnimount TRIA shelving sytem that I am currently installing under my TV. It comes with 2 wall mount brackets and an optional AC extension bracket, which would provide a total of 48" of cable management. I'm not so concerned with cable management, so I wasn't going to use the AC extension anyway. However, I now found that I can't use the 2nd bracket at all - The AC outlet is in the way. I can't move the top bracket any higher, either. I thought about cutting 2nd the bracket, but where I would have to cut it is above the mounting screw slot. I really only need 2 of the 3 shelves, so I was wondering if it would be safe to use only 1 bracket to mount the 2 shelves?

2nd question: I will be putting an XBOX 360 and a Verizon FIOS DVR on said shelves. I figure that if it is safe, I would put the DVR on the top shelf and the 360 below it. The last thing I need is extra heat below the 360 (the DVR gets fairly warm), especially since 360s are easily overheated. However, I have one of the newer 360s with the larger heatsink. So my 2nd question is, should the 360 be on the top shelf or the bottom shelf?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I found a way to move the outlet over just enough so that the bracket will sit flush on the wall. I used the hole located at the top right of the outlet to screw it into the box. I then used the second screw to hold the bottom in place by placing it to the right of the lower arms (there's no screw hole on the bottom portion). Yeah, the outlet was slightly lower than before, but that wasn't a problem. The only problem then was the outlet cover, but I found a way to cut that without snapping it. I first tried with a hacksaw, but it just snapped into lots of tiny pieces. Second time around, I scored it with an blade a bunch of times, then I put a soldering iron to it to melt along those lines. Not the cleanest outcome, but I was going to paint the cover anyways. Not to mention that the cable management system will hang over the outlet a bit, so it'll be mostly covered. Had to cut the edge of the cable management cover so that I could still plug stuff into that outlet (only outlet near my TV). Thanks anyways guys and have a good weekend.

Thanks for posting all this. I was going to buy this shelf, but now I'll save the $.
From all the pics I've seen, I had the impression that the mounting brackets are hung along the stud and would then COVER the outlet.
