I have a MSI HD6450 graphics card that supports dual-link DVI with resolution up to 2560 x 1600. If I connect a 2560 x 1440 monitor to the dual DVI port, will the HDMI on the same card to a Samsung 1920 x 1080p TV work simultaneously? I don't have a 2560 x 1440 monitor (yet) to see if it will work.

Reason I ask is I'm wondering whether the dual-link DVI in use for the 2560 x 1440 will use up the resources of the HD6450 that would otherwise be used for the HDMI.

Thanks,

Skylark

I can't imagine why not. On my desktop I'm currently using dual-link DVI (going to a 120 Hz monitor) and HDMI powering a 1080p monitor, although that's with an ATI 5670. I'm not aware of the 6450 behaving any differently in this regard.

Low-end cards like that often have three video outputs but the HDMI and DVI always run off the same link to the GPU while the VGA has it's own separate link. If you upgrade to a mid-range two DVI with one HDMI card, you should be able to run simultaneous DVI and HDMI connections independently.
