Hi James (cool speaker pics BTW)
I'm new at this game, so all I know is that after paying for the projector, I sure didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on the screen as well. So I knocked one up from some pine framing, and covered it with the 3 pass curtain blackout stuff, and it sure is a lot better than projected on the wall. I made my screen 1200mmx1600mm as 1200mm was the width of the material. The blackout cost me about US$6, the timber cost be about US$10. So for under US$20 I had a reasonable screen. The great thing about a cheap screen like this is that I don't mind throwing it in the back of the truck and taking it and the projector to other places - if it gets wrecked, I'll just knock up another one. Maybe one day I can afford the real thing, but until then, DIY is the right price for me.
Actually, maybe it wasn't that cheap, as I used it as an excuse to buy a compound mitre saw so I'd get some nice clean cuts on the timber frame. But at least now I have the saw for other projects!
