current ae200s are priced at what an ae100 was last year....
seems logical, but ?
The price progression has been a little bit interesting and I would say that it won't be unless you are counting used. From what I can tell the AE300 price only dropped about $200 or so in the year it was out. Then the AE500 comes along and instead of lowering the AE300 price, they basically just discontinue it.
That is also basically how it happened for the AE100 to AE200 transition from what I remember. In fact, I think the AE200 at introduction was about the same price as the AE100 had been. One way of looking at it is that the AE200 was the AE100 replacement and the AE300 was a new model. Now with the AE500 replacing the AE300 they will probably just stop selling the AE300. This of course depends on inventories though, as Sharp is still trying to sell the 9000 (introduced close to 2 years ago) as they get close to introducing the 12000.
