I think I remember a post from someone stating that they had done so....personally I was able to keep my HR10-250 and get the HR20 for S&H.

Will D* Upgrade HD-TiVo to new HD-DVR?
I got my HD10-250 in August, DirectTV gave it to me for free in exchange for purchasing sunday ticket.
I'm considering trying to get them to give me the new H20 DVR, has anyone called them about swapping the boxes, and if so are they requiring you to pay retail for the new DVR?
