I don't care about all the numbers and comparison charts, the Ep1 LD sounds a whole lot better than the DVD and I was wondering if Ep2 will be released on LD?


Is LD completely dead now, or are they still doing Japaneese releases?

LD is dead as a doornail and based on prelim. DVD sales reported from various sales sources- LucasFilm has no reason to release Ep. 2 on LD.

I don't believe that LD is completely dead in Japan. Last I heard there was going to be a limited release of The Sixth Day DTS LD in Japan, and a few others. It would not surprise me if Episode 2 were to be released over there, but I wouldn't hold my breath either.

I think it's unlikely. A lot of people bought the TPM LD because there was no DVD at the time. Only a VERY small number of people will buy an LD of a title that has a concurrent (or even earlier!) release on DVD.


Since it's reasonable to assume that Lucas WILL release Ep. 2 on DVD at the same time he does so on VHS (thereby killing any reason for almost anyone to buy an LD), and since he's hearing lots and lots of cash register bells in his head over TPM DVD sales, I think he'll probably say to himself, why bother?
