Will Licos winn out over DLP?

Just curious what you all thought about the two formats for RPTV's. Toshiba is the only one with Licos and from what I have been reading they are not supporting them all that well. There are alot more DLP manufactures out there. WIll Licos win over eventually or will it just go away.... Thanks

I don't think LCOS will go away. It sounds like SONY will be producing a few models of LCOS (they call it something else, but it is the same) soon (this year?).
I just thought one of the folks here that deal with them both or one with alot of knowledge could weigh in here. I saw the licos and thought the picture was better than the DLP but most are going with DLP. I like to have the latest best technology but would not want to get something that only one manufacturer would be making for only a year or two. Just wish the dust would settle and someone would figure things out better for us consumers. I have been happy with my Pioneer RPTV but it still lacks in some areas. Just trying to find something new that will handle analog signals better as they are going to be around still for awhile.
DLP isn't new and a ton of people use them, more in projectors than RPTV right now.
So which one will handle non HD material the best?
The one that will handle the non HD material the best will be the one that can provide the best picture on HD material assuming factors such as the scaler are the same.
Unlike Beta vs. VHS there is almost no reason why both of these techs won't co-exist.

Sony is joining JVC as a major LCOS backer. Toshiba is in the market with the LCOS RPTV.

DLP, on the other hand, has gigantic industry support and that's unlikely to just dry up. In fact, DLP will likely be around for a decade or more.
