As per polls conducted last year Spiderman-3 was voted as the most anticipated 2007 release but it's heading for a flop status. Will the same happen to POTC-3 ?

Will Jack Sparrow be able to hammer down Peter Parker ?

The success of these movies will be a major selling point when it's released in Blu-ray.

Your thoughts please.

I'm not sure how you concluded that spiderman 3 was headed for "flop status" when it has broken so many box office records and pulled in another 6.7 million yesterday alone. In total it has pulled in 176 million domestic and 230 million foreign for a total of 406 million in less than 1 week.

I think he is not talking about money this time. He is talking about the fact that about half the people that have seen the movie are already dissapointed.

I thought at first for sure this was a joke. But actually is he serious?

Or maybe on crack?

Eight in 10 moviegoers worldwide went to the Sony Corp. movie, Tokyo-based Sony said in a statement today. The film also set a box-office record for the U.S. and Canada with sales of $151.1 million, according to Media By Numbers LLC.

You are right. Flop status to me is it hasn't stolen the hearts of the audience and the memories will fade away soon.

Though V for Vendetta didn't run fair well at the box-office it's still popular among the mature audiences.

The million dollars grossing is owing to the expectations and impact the previous episodes have created. Need to check out how it performs on long run.

POTC was fair at best. The second is just bad, and the plot for the third doesn't leave much room for success.

I haven't seen Spiderman 3, but I hold a lot more hope for it than the Pirates series.

Fairly false statement to make that it is a flop. like others have said, it has broken single day and weekend records.

they are not oscar or even epic movies. they are fun popcorn flicks. as are all superhero movies.

The first was good action flick, the 2nd was an ok action flick and the 3rd was an even better action flick.

Personally i enjoyed it more than 300 on the Imax, 300's story was just lame.

I'd like to see the proof of that, that film was terrible and I don't know anyone who likes it.

As for Spidey, there is a vocal minority of people that hate the film. Some people are disappointed because the bar had been set really high. Personally I don't see how anyone who liked the first two spiderman films could really dislike this film. I can see being a little disappointed, but it isn't the train wreck that some are trying to suggest, it just isn't as good as part 2.

I like Vendetta about 10 times more than Spiderman 2, and about 20 times more than Spiderman 1.

Vendetta is not for a wider audience...like Spiderman.

Batman Begins is better than V and Spiderman. Hulk is a better version of Spiderman 2.

Spiderman 3 is just entertaining(why would you expect so much after seeing the cake scene?)

Worlds End will beat Spidey 3 at the box office(look at how much movies with Keira Knightely gross).

And the POTC has solid performances and awesome direction with Bruckheimer production values. Plus Disney knows a little something about making movies.

I agree with shadowrage. Both POTC and Spiderman maintained similar levels of progression with their sequels. Spidey-3 however has been a major disappointment probably due to a wafer thin / confused story line and over expectations.

For $250M budget the movie still lacks in many areas.

I hope that similar factors don't impact POTC-3.
If these are going to be watch-once movies then it may impact the blu-ray sales.

Will POTC - At World's End be a disaster like Spidey-3 ?

I hope not. I love the POTC series. "Curse" absolutely rocked. It was fresh and fun. Other than Titanic, it was one of the few sea-going movies that didn't flop. DMC had more polish but lost some of the magic. Still entertaining because of the characters. World's End should be an all-out assault. let's hope it ends like ROTC, and not Spidey 3 or Matrix Revolutions.
