Will the 931 upconvert to 720P or 1080i using the component output, or only the DVI?


Is this player better than the 800 series?


If the 931 doesn't upconvert using component, which HD-DVD players do?

Only over DVI


The 931 crushes black levels = bad for home theater


It's not really HD-DVD its and "upconversion" of a 480i source.

Also the new Sammy 841 and 941 will not convert over component cables either. The only unit that converts over component is the V880 and the Zenith 318 (I believe).

Don't forget other Sigma solutions like Norcent/LiteON, DreamX, etc. Zenith DVB318 give the best image quality IMHO due to DCDi (Faroudja) scaler/deinterlacer with Omega MPEG decoder when I A-B compared it vs. my LiteON LVD-2001 (Sigma chipset).
