I would be less worried about how your system will need to change with the introduction of SuperAudio or DVD-Audio than I would with the introduction (roll-out, really) of THX-EX...or 7.1 surround.
If THX-EX takes off, that WILL require some new equipment (at the very least, 2 new speakers, at most, possibly an entire set!).
