I did a search and found some discussions about Mac computers as HTPC, but not enough to answer my question. I'm needing to purchase a laptop for my business. I favor the Mac G4 500mhz PowerBook. My questions is, will the mac give me the resolution for my D-ila projector? I will be playing video off the hard drive and possibly DVD. I'm not sure what video card is installed in this laptop. Any information would be appreciated.

It will work just fine.

You can run dual display or video mirroring with the Rage Mobility 8Mb card included. And it handles Firewire DV in beautifully- for a basic full screen (4:3) DV viewer try BTV View. The G4PB has a neat 3:2 LCD panel, but it's native resolution doesn't map to the DILA; that may only be critical in mirror mode for pixel level editing purposes.

You may want to look at the new iBook as well- half the price, but video mirroring only- no dual display. Standard XGA resolution with Firewire.
