I found a great deal on getting one for $100.

As of now, it would hook up with a cable box and Blu-Ray player through HDMI and then the TV through HDMI.

I currently have a Sony STRK840P.

Big reason is so that I can get Liner PCM, DTS Master Audio, and TrueHD audio decoding with the receiver handling the inputs.

Will there me any issues replacing the Sony with this Onkyo? I plan on keeping the speakers that came with the Sony for now, only need/want 5.1, and will make the receiver the AV switch.

However, I don't want to loose any sound quality. I know I will have to manually calibrate it.

You'll obviously want to upgrade the speakers, some day. But, they'll hookup and play on the 509, just as they did with the Sony receiver.
