I am trying to build a VERY basic HTPC, that is going to be used ONLY for DVD Playback and Websurfing, and maybe a little counter strike..

Specs..

P3 1.1ghz

1gb of Ram

Very Stable MOBO (never crashed once in 3 years)

Radeon X1050XT Video Card

I am going to be running DVD to HDMI from my video card to my 51" Hitachi 51f59 Rear Projection TV. Its in 1080i.

Will that setup cut it? Again, this is for a VERY basic HTPC, just DVD playback and Web Surfing..

Is there anything else I would need before I get to work? Right now it has a video card that does not have dvi, so I am upgrading that, but thats it..

How will it look? Decent? I want to have good DVD quality playback, but I wont be doing any HD stuff.

m1ndless,

480P/1080i output should not be a problem, especially if you are not dealing with HD source material. If you're using the original Half Life (not Half Life 2) based Counterstrike, you can get by with an older DirectX 9 VGA card, too.

I can suprisingly run Conter Strike on my Radeon 9250, poorly, but I can do it. I am upgrading to a better video card, so it shouldnt be a problem. I have my xbox 360 for gaming, this is just for webbrowsing and stuff.
