Win PVR-150 De-Interlacing

299 Views 1 Reply 2 Participants Last post by  stanger89
I have a very basic HTPC setup, connected to a 37" LCD TV.

When I capture using the WIN PVR-150 (hauppauge) it does some form of de-interlacing automatically, and it looks like crap IMHO. I like the hardware based MPEG-II conversion, but not the deinterlacing, it just looks bad on sweeping pans of the camera, etc. Is there a way to turn off this deinterlacing? Would things look that bad if they were converted to MPEG-II while still interlaced? It doesn't look too bad if I send the signal straight to my TV instead of passing it through the HTPC.

It shouldn't be doing any, it's probably on the playback end that's doing the deinterlacing poorly. If you're using the Hauppauge app (or the decoders) you might want to try this:

Don't worry, it's not SageTV specific.
