While I did notice that this card is marked as unsupported on the DSCaler website I was hoping that it was maybe outdated?

Has anyone had any success with this card ?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers

So I take it that if I bought this WinTV PVR-250 , it doesn't come with Sage software, so I won't be able to use Dscaler?

Oz-E,

The elecard decoder is software based. You can achieve better PQ from a hardware based decoder but I've never compared the two side by side.

eswrite,

To my knowledge you are correct. Dscaler is something we decided to integrate we when were developing the software and determining the use of MPEG-2 decoders/filters for playback.

Dan, can you help me understand why the Dscaler plugin is an option only with the Elecard decoder and not with other decoders such as Cyberlink?

Dan can't, but I can. :)

It has to do with the media types supported on the output of the MPEG2 Video Decoder filter. Elecard is the only one that supports a format that is compatible with the DScaler Deinterlacing DirectShow Filter's input.
