Just consider the source when you read stuff like this. Infoworld is very biased against MS. My experience with XP is very different; I find to to be as fast or faster in almost every way. Also, you have to realize that certain benchmarks will show XP in a poor light because in it's default configuration XP has additional graphics features that can affect benchmark performance. All those shadows and transparent windows cost CPU time, but you can turn that stuff off if you want.
