My HTPC system:

Intel P3-1Ghz

Memory: 512MB

ATI Radeon 9500

Windows XP

The HD videos run really choppy, less than 1 frame per second.

Questions:

Do I have to run Direct X 9 or does it make a difference?

Is my system capable of running the video smoothly?

Anyone have any suggestions, any things I can try?

Thanks

dude, sorry to break it to you, but you need a 3gHz chip, or at least the 2.4gHz for bare functionality. Try again when you have a studlier, more uptodate computer...'cause that's the way the microserf girl likes it.

My daily computer runs it fine.

Athlon XP at 2.0Ghz

512MB DDr

GeForce4Ti @ 305/600

But it's much faster than the HTPC.

Bummer I was really looking forward to watching these video's on my G70. :(

Doug,

My PC runs it just fine (including Stepping into Liquid).

I am running the following (so perhaps an upgrade for you won't be expensive?) :

Athlon XP 1700+ @ $48

EPoX 8RDA+ Motherboard (NForce2 chipset) @ $99

512MB 333MHz DDR @ $60

I have the XP overclocked to 1.93GHz (haven't tried faster) with a 333MHz front side bus. I am also running a slower Radeon 9000 (non pro).

Just as a point of reference, if you need to upgrade the guts of your HTPC, for about $200 you can get it to do WM9 in HD, and no probs.

Also, for whatever it's worth, I have been very pleased with my motherboard.
