Well I finally got my HTPC up and running. Right now I am gonna head over to tweakxp and see hwo I can get rid of services i dont need, thats a good idea right?

So anyways I alreayd have Zoomplayer, but I do not have any codecs installed on the HTPC. I want to have the WinDVD codec without actually installing WinDVD. Is that possible? In additio what do you think are the best codecs for the chaintech av-710 to use with analog 5.1 out.

There are only a few audio codecs (AC3Filter, WinDVD, and PowerDVD) for 5.1 analog DD and DTS decoding and output. I use WinDVD for video and AC3Filter or WinDVD for audio. I belive that the only way to install the codecs is to install WinDVD. What is wrong with installing WinDVD?

No, but if you have some problem playing a DVD you can confirm if it is or is not the video filter by using WinDVD. AC3Filter
