The internal version isn't getting much more than power from the ISA bus and you're giving up a card slot, which tends to be at a premium if the HTPC is handling all known media. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/wink.gif There's an external version with serial control, too.
If you only want shortwave (or a separate serial-controlled BC-780XLT for scanning and trunk tracking), there is also the TEN-TEC . Again, it's physically external, but with no controls other than PC software. It's cheaper than this entry-level WinRadio, but is DSP-based like the more expensive WinRadios.
