recently I am about to get a PVR card and I am debating between an original WinTV-PVR PCI (880) & the new PVR 250

- for old 880, it's got DScaler support

- for PVR 250, it's got SageTV

SO... which one to go for??

Thanks!

I guess it depends on what your primary purpose is. If it is just to watch live TV, then the PVR PCI or any capture card that is compatible with Dscaler is fine. If your primary goal is PVR functions and recording shows in MPEG format, then the PVR250 is the way to go. Also remember that SageTV allows the use of Dscaler filters. On the other hand, the TV signal is always encoded by the hardware, then decoded, so you never see the "live" signal on the 250.

Also make sure that you live in a supported area for SageTV. Program is quite limited without the EPG support.
