Wire again!

Hey guys, i have a Parasound HINT6 on its way soon. Do i diy my cabling (speaker) or go brand name (audioquest as example). I’m powering a 30yr old pair of MartinLogan Sequel II’s. The Parasound is 45amp p-p so power isnt an issue. The runs could be as long as 20’ each.

Wire gauge has more impact then brand. Use 16 gauge minimum, zip cord works fine.
@ 20'..... 16 awg is fine, 14 awg if it makes you feel more comfortable.
Home Depot/Lowes, Monoprice, Amazon or any reasonably priced retailer is dandy.
Buy your own speaker wire and some banana plugs and make your own. I bought a MediaBridge 200 ft. spool of 12 gauge wire and Sewell banana plugs a couple years ago and made my own. I enjoyed it and made 2 more wires for the bookshelves in the master bedroom.
We use 14/4 stranded for all our audio installs, i could combine (red/wht+)(blk/gr-) :0)

And connect to bananas
Seems as if you knew the answer before the question.

I'd do Monoprice 12 or 14AWG, but you will probably be fine with 16AWG.

Edit: or go with 14/4 or 16/4 since you use the 4 conductor wire already (IIRC that gets you a sum of 11AWG or 13AWG when you combine each pair).
A zip cord wire provides the same Q as AudioQuest snake oil speaker wire.

12 years ago I wired up a 7.1 system with BJC 10AWG cable, what a waste of effort. Not to mention the cable was almost too thick to even fit the banana plugs. Fast forward and I now use a cable with the metric equivalent of AWG 15 from the hardware store for my entire setup.

Just wanted to be sure :0)

If all the other installs used 14/4 in the past and meet expectations, it will be fine now also. ;)
And.... you can use one 14awg pair for left and the other for right and still be quite happy.

Great point!

Yeah, but the audio quest leaves your wallet much lighter. If you're concerned about your weight, that can be a factor :p.

Stay away from wire with too many stands over distances beyond 10 feet. it will degrade the high frequencies.

As long as the wires are elevated off the floor, he'll be fine.

Only if he uses the proper ceramic cable-lifters.

Stands or Strands?
Does it really matter?
:D
