That all depends on whether the USB port is for input (most likely) or output? It will depend on what settings the blu-ray player has for outputting (if at all) audio via the USB port? You will need to go into either the manual or the A/V settings on your blu-ray player to see if this is possible. As you don't mention your blu-ray player brand or model number, I cannot advise you any further. I'm sure others will be able to give you some advice as well. Good luck.
I just ordered the player it’s a Panasonic ub9000
I own one, as you can see by my signature block. As far as I'm aware, it's for a USB device, like a USB key or drive, for playing audio and/or video files, not for outputting audio for headphones. You can have a look through the on-line manual, just do a quick search for it. It mentions USB 53 times, and never once mentions that you can output audio via either USB port. Good luck.
Thanks for the info, looks like I might need Bluetooth headphones
