Not really Home theater related, but this seemed to be the closest forum.

I'm going to finally put a TV in my livingroom. Problem is, the cable jack is on the opposite side of the room from where I want to put the TV. I'd really rather not spend a lot of time and money getting cable runs done so I can have a cable jack on that side of the room, and I don't want unsightly cables all over the place.

So I was wondering, does anyone know of a wireless product, sort of like 802.11, that has a transmitter I can plug into the cable jack on one side of the room and a receiver that I plug the TV/VCR/TIVO into on the other side?

Yes, X10, among others sells a product just like this. You'll have to keep your Tivo, VCR etc on the other side of the room and connect the receiver to your TV. The X10 unit will transmit the IR to the transmitter using RF so a line of sight is not needed. I have one of these in my bedroom connected to the DSS receiver 2 floors down and it works great.

I had a similar problem distributing audio and video to other sets around the house. I got a UHF transmitter from eBay and plugged it into the video output of my Dish PVR. Works great! The best thing about it is that I can send video to portable TV's, and no special receiver is required.
