Wireless Surround Speakers?

903 Views 8 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Matt Olsziewski
hey guys, I’m trying to figure out a way to use my Focal Chora 806 bookshelves wirelessly as my surround speakers. The problem I am facing is I have just moved into a new place and the wall where my tv and front stage is placed is not connected to any Of the other three walls in the room. The room is as if there is a rectangle with three sides and the fourth side is disconnected due to opening to other rooms on each side of the wall. This has left me with no attractive way to run wires to the rear of the room. The only solution I can think of would be to use a wireless transmitter of some sort (I think SVS makes one) and a two channel power amp set up in the rear of the room. The next problem I run into is I would need to find a pretty small form factor power amp as it would need to fit into a square shaped cubby that I have open in one of the pieces of furniture next to my couch. I don’t want to supply the speakers with crappy power though and it seems tough to find something nice in a small form factor like that. Any ideas for how this would work, a wireless transmitter that is good for the job, and a small factor power amp that still provides a reasonable amount of clean power? As the final point, I also don’t want to spend to much on this as running wires is what i would normally do but it just won’t work.

As you know there is a latency with wireless adapters so its worth making sure the processor can accommodate the distance setting that will be required for the latency of the adapter + actual distance from the MLP to the speakers.
As a very rough estimate each millisecond delay is about equal to 1ft.

That’s good to consider and I wasn’t thinking about that. I am currently using a Marantz SR7013. I’ll have to look into that.
Is the space below finished. Anyway to run wiring under the floor.

I wish there was but no there is no way.

What does that mean though. Is there a floor below. Phishing wire is fairly easy. Also above as well if a bungalow.

Without going too deep into my current living arrangements. I just graduated college and me and my girlfriend are living in this apartment for roughly the next two years. We can’t really make any serious modifications to it which would include putting any kind of hole in the carpet.
Understand now. This is a tough one.
Yea and I could run wire up and around using the ceiling with a brief run over the section where the walls don’t connect, but I’m really trying to avoid that. I mounted my tv and there was precut holes in the walls where I mounted it that I ran the wires through. Everything looks so clean with no wires and I love it. Running wires up the wall and around would really mess that up.
