Wireless Surround Suggestions

441 Views 8 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Pete7874
Here is my problem:

I had a Sony 1070 using a pair of ZR-7 powered speakers as the surrounds in a 5.1 configuration. The 1070 died and the 1080 no longer supports Wireless Surround. I really cannot run speaker wires to the location of the rears.

I need suggestions to enable a pair of Core CS-5 bookshelves to connect with a new Sony 1080 AVR.

How powerful is the built-in amp?

With a link to the product page and Google I'm confident you can find the specs on your own.

Oh, I've tried that first, and came up with nothing, hence I asked here.

Why bother responding if you don't know the answer? SMH

I call bs on your "trying that first." Rocketfish has been around forever it's been discussed here and there are reviews aplenty. If, indeed, you could not locate any information, let me help you:

and:

I hope your reading helps you determine if Rocketfish might be suitable for your application--it worked well for me.

Have you actually looked at that page? Nowhere does it state what the amp power output is, which that in itself is quite telling. Yes, I realize rear channels don't require a lot of power typically, but still, it's a basic spec that most people want to know to understand the amp's capabilities.

Thanks, but that review is for a different version, from over 10 years ago. I didn't just want to assume that the specs are the same as WRSK18.

Thanks. I think I'll pass.

dio Input: Wireless • Stereo, 16-bit, 48 KHz, uncompressed

• Signal-to-Noise Ratio: 87 dB

Audio Output: High

Efficiency Class D,

Speaker-level

• Supports 4 to 16 ohm speakers

• Audio output power: 2 × 30 W (RMS)

into 4 ohms (no more than 10% THD)

Transmission Delay • 15-20 ms

Power Supply • AC 100-240

The design / specs haven't changed. I used it probably around when the Audioholics review was written. It performed well for the several years I used it. There are still very limited options for "wireless" solutions. There's still no substitute for running cable if you want minimal latency and the full amplification your receiver will provide. But I had no issues with the rear speakers being recognized and eq'd by my room correction software.
