Wiring For Plasma and Russound Cav6.6

OK. I will have a Russound CAV6.6 and two sources will be Directv DSS Boxes. I amd wiring the new house and want to know if there are any cables I need to run from the "Homebase" to the Plasma TV location. (ie. Monster Cables etc.) Don't want to wish I had done something down the road. I do not get HD yet, but expect to in the future.

I ran dual HDMI, one component, svideo, 2 RG6 and 3 cat-5 behind my plasma. I figured I'm covered for any eventual system down the road. If you really want to be covered bring in a conduit to be safe.
I'm curious your post highlighted that you were using the CAV 6.6. What were you planning to distribute/hub/switch your HDMI sources with. I don't believe the CAV 6.6 supports HDMI.

I ask, as I am both looking for such a hubbing device as well as understand the cable length limitations of HDMI.

I have just installed a CAV6.6. I trying to set up the video distribution and have been stumped with what to do with the HDMI. I have RG59 run to all of the HD TV locations. I am considering just using the CAV6.6 for the IR control and then using a splitter/amplifier for the HDMI. Not sure if I can run the audio from the cable box to the CAV and then the video off the splitter - I would like to be able to use the in-ceiling speakers for sound.
So, here is what I have decided and am currently wiring the home for:

[Sample Room: Exercise Room]

Video Distribution:

Home runs of 3 RG6 from DirectTV to wall plate behind TV terminating to RCA

Home run of Cat5e to same wall plate using 1 pair each for for Left and Right sound

These also terminate to RCA

: At this point I have extended COMPONENT HD Capable from the Closet HUB to the TV

: Provides Audio and Video via a fixed run

Audio Distribution:

As the whole house is on a Russound based Audio Distro, I want to also have the sound

of the TV co-distributed to the speakers in the ceiling.

From Aux Audio Out on back of DirecTV, I feed Left and Right sound into Russound Source

Using Programmable Remote Control (Pronto):

When I turn on the TV in this room (or other rooms like it)

: TV is turned on

: DirecTV is turned on

: Russound Source set to DirecTV Aux Audio Input

This way I get everything I want:

- HD Video/Audio from TV

- TV Audio piped through in-ceiling speakers.

When I am not watching TV, I can use the core Russound to listen to music/XM/MP3/Radio

One last point, I know I started this on the HDMI topic, and in the overview cited Component. That is because the exercise room distance exceeds the HDMI spec and I

did not want to invest in the HDMI over Cat5 Extenders. Too pricey at this time.

My understanding is that in the very near future, Russound will have a way to distribute HDMI that will be compatible with the CAV 6.6

I am looking to be ready for the future.
Ed,

I want to have the sound come from the TV as well as speakers also. I also have Directv and will have the CAV 6.6.

Exactly what wires are you running from the TV to the CAV Source to accomplish this? And where are you running them from/to? My plan was to run Dual RG6 to the cable location. Do I also need to run a CAT5 to the cable location?
