I just picked up the Monoprice DisplayPort to HDMI adpater for my new Dell Latitude E6400 to run to my 40" 1080p Philips LCD TV. I plugged it all in and messed with the setting for 15 minutes, but I never got anywhere. I tried a variety of resolutions and modes (dual view, and whatever) and I Fn+F8'd a couple times. I succeeded only in blacking out the Laptop screen and getting my TV to read "Unsupported Video Format."

I've read two things. 1. That this dongle "just works." and 2. That I might need a driver update. I looked at drivers, but it seems that they're up to date.

Any help?

Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same situation, oddly enough. Latitude E6400 with a monoprice displayport to hdmi cord hooked into a lcd television. The Display devices window opens when I press function + F8 saying "LCD Only" and "Presentation Mode Disabled". TV just says no input. When I have hooked this computer up to projectors using DVI it has just worked, no problems.

I've looked all over trying to find solutions. I've found others asking similar questions but no solutions that have worked for me. Any suggestions?

I meant VGA instead of DVI.

VGA to projector works, but that is an analog signal, if I'm not mistaken. The only digital output is the displayport on my computer.

I'm using one cord. Male to male. I will also try on a new tv, but don't have another one readily available.

If I buy the dell adapter (male displayport, female hdmi) it does seem to work, but from what I am reading, others are not having success.

On the dell link, one person had success with the cable I own. But I'm not sure how they configured things to run a single monitor output at 1080p. I am running Windows XP Professional, to specify.

Text from dell forum:

"Also I had some problems driving the laptop monitor at 1280x800 and the TV at 1080p at the same time, I think DisplayPort bandwidth is lower than HDMI bandwidth. So just run single monitor output at 1080p."

I never came back and said so, but mine started working. I'm not sure if it was something that I did or not. I know I used 'powerstrip' to try some custom resolutions... I don't think that worked directly. But I gave up for a while, plugged into VGA projector, used the docking station for DVI-HDMI to the Philips 40", and then tried the displayport again. It worked without prodding that time.
