I bought a used 4508 off ebay with a nonworking powersupply and no hard drive.

I got a replacement powersupply and dropped a 80GIG HD in the unit that I had laying around. No lifetime.

EDIT: I don't plan to sell it with the HD, as it seems the HD would fetch as much as the whole unit would with the HD.

Probably dropped about 50 bucks on the hardware, not counting the hard drive.

Since this unit has no lifetime, think its worth selling on ebay? I'm thinking NO at this point....based on sales of 45xx units w/o lifetime.

Forget ebay....sell it to me!! I've been looking at getting a friend for my 4500. Let me know if your interested in selling.

Edit: Although I am located in Canada, I have a US addy you could send to if that is a problem.

I think you could get a reasonable amount for it since RTV has recently offered a new subscription price for additional units. Lifetime makes much less sense now--at least to me.

Cheers

Or you could donate it to the group... one of the software pioneers who doesn't have a 4500 to work with. They could surely get the thing working and then have the unit to work off of. Personally my 5k and 5.5k boxes were bought for no other reason than tinker. I'm sure I'm not alone and maybe someone around here could use the unit for a useful cause.

Just an idea, I couldn't use it.

If you try to sell it on ebay without a drive you are narrowing your audience down to almost noone.

outpost and Frys has a 160 gig seagate (5 year warrenty) for $50 after rebate. ya should consider getting one of those and putting the smallest drive you own in the 4xxx and selling it that way. or perhaps even putting the 160 gig HD in the 4xxx and toting that it has a brand new 160 gig 5 year warranty (HD receipt included) That way you are up $50 from the rebate and you don't limit the buyers to people who know how to upgrade replaytvs

just spinning some thougths
