I have an xr-55 bi-wired to def tech 2002's. What difference if any would i see if i bought a seperate amp for the subs and bi-wired to the mids and highs?

If the towers have powered subwoofers built in then adding an amp to it will damage it for sure because you can't amplify a low level rca input.

I was thinking about splitting the sub out from the xr55 to an amp and running speaker wire to the speaker jacks for the subs.

eh? i thought thats the signal you should amplify

I think the amps in the speakers are 125 watts. Should I use those or add a larger amp? What are the advantages to more power if it's loud enough (turned almost all the way up though)?
