That's what I have now, but I have the bug and about $3000 burning my pocket. I've been quite happy with DD 5.1 sound, but would like to improve on the Dolby surround sound.


I'm leaning towards the Rotel RSP-1066 / RMB-1095 combo because it's the only current system that I've seen for myself. I'm really behind the times when it comes to current equipment though. What else compares price wise give or take $1000?

Hello. I just recently sold my venarable 3090. I have been looking at the Pioneer Elite 55txi but in your budget if you want a great receiver look no farther then the 49TXI or the 5803. If you like the Yamaha check out the RX-Z1 with the new Z-9 coming out you may be able to find it for 1500 or less. Now if you want seperates there are so many ways to go. Just check around on this board. The Rotel is a good combination but it all depends on what you really want.

I would love to sell my 3090 too, but I will more likely take what I'm given on a trade in. If I may ask, what did you get for yours?


How does the Rotel combo compare to the 49TXI sound wise? The Pioneer piece appears to blow Rotel away when looking at features.
